OUR MISSION

The Maizon Dort Foundation was established to support and develop  educational success for the youth in underserved communities through sports creative expression and academic support. The foundations goal is to provided resources to inspire growth in individuals and families while removing many barriers Lu faced growing up.

ABOUT LUGUENTZ

Born and raised in Montreal North, his first love was soccer. Introduced to basketball by his best friend, Luguentz, better known as “Lu”, began to flourish in the sport. While the area of Montréal North offered many enticing distractions, Lu kept himself busy playing basketball for the Knights of Parc Extension. He often traveled over one hour each way for practices and games. 

As a young player, his determination and desire to win far outweighed his skill. Throughout his teenage years, Lu pursued his basketball dreams across North America, finishing his high school career in Ontario after a short stop in Florida. Lu finished his high school career as one of the top ranked recruits in North America.

He played one season at the University of Arizona State and was named Pac-12 Freshman of the year and first team all defensive. He declared for the draft following his freshman year and again was met with disappointment after going un-drafted. As an un-drafted free agent, Lu was signed by the Oklahoma City Thunder to a two-way non-guaranteed contract. 

As many other times in his life, he overcame this obstacle and shined bright on the NBA’s biggest stage during the 2020 Playoffs cementing himself as one of the best defenders in the NBA. Lu’s perseverance, determination and loyalty are what allows him to be the successful athlete he is today.
